Moissanite is not an imitation of anything. It is its own stone, silicon carbide, and it behaves differently from diamond in ways you can see: more fire, a brighter return of coloured light when it moves.
We use it because it lets us build pieces at a scale and a price that make sense to wear daily. A four-carat moissanite stud is a piece you can put on for work. A four-carat diamond stud is a piece you insure.
What you are getting
- Hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale. Second only to diamond at 10, and well above sapphire-set fashion jewelry. It does not scratch from ordinary wear.
- Lab-grown, every stone. Origin is known because it is manufactured, not mined.
- Colourless to near-colourless. Specified per piece in the product detail.
How it differs from cubic zirconia
Cubic zirconia is softer, around 8 to 8.5, and clouds with wear as the surface abrades. Moissanite does not. Where we use cubic zirconia or lab opal in a design, the product page says so by name.
